  1. I like the black & tan look of the interior. Whenever I become wealthy enough and my '02 doesn't need too many other things, that would be very appealing.
  2. '75 Sahara's are the MOST desirable of any 2002's!!!
  3. I will be there in Eureka Springs! Whether my '02 is ready, time will tell. See you soon, Mike, Mike, Jim, & many others.
  4. Thanks for the good luck wishes, guys. Yeah, it's a good time to put in a 5-speed, but project creep = budget creep in a big way, so probably not in the cards right now.
  5. I cannot go to Vintage this time; my dad's 80th birthday celebration is that weekend. I will be there next year, however. This year, I will attend MidAmerica '02 Fest in Eureka Springs. Yay!
  6. "Your engine block is off to the machine shop to check the bores for wear. Mike measured about .005 wear in the bores, plus some ridging at the bore tops plus a little waviness. The machine shop will be able to determine if the block needs to be bored, or if it can be cleaned up to re-use your pistons (presuming they check out to be in good shape). He also said the crankshaft and bearings looked good, so the crank should only need polishing. Head, rockers and shafts also look good, so maybe just a valve grind and late style valve stem seals—with new guides. Dunno about the valves themselves." {Quoted is the esteemed Mike Self of Roundel fame....}
  7. People bite the gators right back; we had some gator as an appetizer at dinner this eve. It was tasty too!
  8. I got to meet Don Derham (from Slidell) yesterday. We had a lunch gtg in Covington, LA. I am visiting my brother in Baton Rouge, so if there are others here, let me know. Thanks for meeting up w/me Don. See you at Eureka Springs in April!
  9. All he needs is one idiot & he's golden. Beware of the Franken-bimmer!
  10. If samanthasue was nearby, I know Mike would be there, getting that '02 back on the road! He has helped me a lot, btw.
  11. Let's send Mike Self out there to do a Roundel story on this special '02!
  12. Andy is in Ark. Mike is 10 min. away. Karl is 20 min. away. I can get an '02 'fix' if I need one badly enough. It's very muddy here; the dog came in filthy & had to have a bath pronto! We may be done with snow for this season, but time will tell.
  13. Jack: the same is true here; we had lots of rain. Now I need an '02 to drive about. Maybe Mike Self will lend me one of his....
  14. I can understand your being a little gun-shy listing your '02 here. However, a fuss usually starts w/over-priced rustbuckets offered at exorbitant prices or less-than-honest sellers. In your case, you seem to be honest and straightforward about your '02. If you establish credibility with your first post, things tend to go very well. It's not that folks want to jump you, but it is dumb trying to fool the experts on the FAQ. So, GLWS of your Agave!
  15. Sikes lied. So what? That doesn't have anything to do with what I was saying. I don't profit one way or the other from the Toyota story.
  16. For that matter, if anyone needs another pair of stock springs ( off a '75 ) make me an offer once the above set sells. Sorry to butt in like that.
  17. Durrr, I KNOW what Formula 1 racing is, thanks for inferring that I am stoooopid. What is F1reverb other than a mysterious, bigoted, blowhard? That was my question. BTW: the National Enquirer NEVER won a Pulitzer Prize. Not in this universe, not in my lifetime, not in this dimension.
  18. Thank you kindly, Kevin. BTW: Alec is bound for OU this fall.
  19. This RN is not going to listen to the high & mighty F1. (whatever F1 is -- you're mighty mysterious, aren't you?? -- and snide.)
  20. I'd Much sooner trust Mary's paper (which does its fact-checking) than the Natl. Enquirer. I don't know why anyone would want to defend them or associate with them.
  21. I will defend my wife's profession regardless of people blaming the media for everything that has ever gone wrong in the world. It's like when I go to a party and meet someone & they find out I am an RN. What do I get? Nurses from HELL stories, just what I want to hear about. When Mary goes somewhere, she gets similar treatment from people who don't know the first thing about journalism. She is supposed to explain or atone for a story gone wrong somewhere in the world. BTW: the DDN won a Pulitzer Prize a few years ago. Mary's boss was instrumental in that PP story, too. Defend your profession to a drunken idiot at a party and see how much fun that is for you!!
  22. Michael: that piece was not written by a real journalist. It wasn't exactly the NYT who put out the story either! Mary & her coworkers at the Dayton Daily News are professional writers and not tabloid rumor-mongers. I am proud to know them all. (espec. Mary!) It depends on who puts out a story. Are they genuine? Are they putting out a well reported, well documented story? Are they credible in the first place? The internet carries any juicy rumor w/out any concern over the truth or the ablility to verify the "facts". The Toyota story has become a runaway, chaotic story itself.
