  1. OK. Now I can read it all. WOW. Great story. Similar stories have appeared over time: a P38 under 50 ft. of ice in perfect cond., a P51 in a deep 02-less lake, also perfect, etc.
  2. Is there text w/the story too? It's a T34 w/German markings, so it was captured and reused by the Germans. Wonder what the rest of the story is.......location, circumstances, etc. There was a German Panther tank rescued from a river on TV. It was totally restored after > 60 yrs. in a cold river on the eastern front.
  3. If I was around & had time, I might have gone to see that ti. Where was the mystery bimmer located?? So many nimrods out there, ha ha.
  4. Plenty of warnings in the ad to steer clear of this dipstick!
  5. I keep seeing a bright yellow SAAB Sonnet along Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd. Looks good from 25 yds. when I drive by, but who knows? It looks quite driveable. I remember looking at new SAAB's w/my dad in the early 70's. Naturally, I wanted him to get the Sonnet & not the 99. He eventually bought a '78 99 & an '81 900S turbo.
  6. Fascinating tale. And the best part? -- it's Sahara!! Don't go painting it Inka, OK? Treat BLUNT right, he's a good friend to have!
  7. J.Gerock: I would like to go to Ark. but I will likely go to Austin, TX with family & friends in April. (not bimmer-related) I will still head to NC for Vintage in May though. I keep putting off a trip to Ark. One day....
  8. Thanks. It's an interesting way to earn a living certainly. Ditto on the Ark. guys. I wish that it wasn't so far away. I have not gone to their recent events due to the great distance. Once went to Hermann, MO to meet up w/them, but now all their events are in Ark.
  9. Not even close to a brothel -- a cardiac unit. We are all RN's! Not a sexy place at all. he he. You goin' to Vintage in May? You could stop off in Dayton for the night and caravan w/us in the am to NC.
  10. I'm on break at work. I told my coworkers about your lousy date. They are all women == they took your side and wonder what's wrong w/that wench!! What about the damage to the rear-end of your tii? Any luck w/that?
  11. Hang in there, Joel. That does sound like a lousy date -- at least she showed her cards right away so you didn't waste more time & energy on her! If you lived near us, Mary would be match-making you in no time. I was on a date once & my date disrespected my car (my 1st car, no less)& it was over that instant -- pissed me off royally. She had a new car since she was living at her mom's place. I was earning my own way! I still know her and she's still a princess in the worst sense of the word.
  12. Hi Mike! Just working a bunch here: 5 out of 6 nights. Maybe you'll see a Fiat 500 or a Citroen 2CV there. You'll come back thinking and dreaming in Spanish. Stay safe as you search out oddball cars.
  13. Air Supply = puke. Barry Manilow = puke. Almost anything on a lite rock station = puke!
  14. Wish I'd have been there too, but distance and a multitude of important family events prevented that. My mom turned 80, so we have been doing a family reunion this weekend. Veronica had a swim meet yesterday & today -- AND Alec had a study session for his SAT. Loving my refurbished taillights -- thanks again Mr. Pugh!!
  15. Thanks, Jim. It has smoking upon deceleration, incr. oil consumption, and now it quickly fouls the #4 spark plug with thick black residue. The compression was checked this Spring and found to be "good" (didn't hear the #'s). It's got over 180K mi. now and no engine work done to my knowledge. The hillclimb portions of our drive together showed a definite lack of power.
  16. I am thinking: major engine work before Vintage. It will be GREAT to have greater smoothness, more power, no smoke, higher MPG, etc. I recently dreamed I was making a cross-country trip in the '02, but got busted for drug possession (not mine!) on a college campus somewhere in Colorado. What the hell?!
  17. Just heard: "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey -- one of the most overrated/overplayed acts known to mankind. Arggh. Also heard, wait for it, Billy Joel -- don't know the title, but: "you may be right, I may be crazy, but a lunatic may be what you're looking for, you may be wrong, but you may be right" CRAP!!!!!!!
  18. Mine is from Wal-Mart & I'm very pleased with it.
  19. Sorry, Joel. Good thread, though -- informative. I just refurbished my taillights so that dumb people will see me, that is, if they're not texting. I am keeping my big bumpers in the name of self defense!
  20. TJF: my '02 was in Athens, AL when I bought it in the summer of '03. It had been an AL car since new.
  21. Yeah! I knew there were kits, 'cause I bought a kit a few yrs. back. Call BLUNT for one.
  22. Mine needed a boot & a shifter rebuild kit when I got it. You will be very pleased once the shifter is rebuilt. It was even better once the new clutch was installed. snick, snick, snick.
  23. It makes a bolder statement as your commuter vehicle than an F-350 imo. You'd be ready for anything in a Unimog. It wouldn't need the nutsack on the trailer hitch either!
  24. George said it best. I should have done that. BUT I have learned a lot about deferred maintenance-type problems since 2003! When I have permission to get another car, Geo. is gonna get a call from me!!
