  1. Congratulations Dave & Ginger! What an appropriate name for your son. We will be eager to meet him. Good luck, new parents!
  2. Very nice. I will have to be there for the shakedown cruises. I have never riden in one or driven one. I don't even remember seeing them on the road when they were new!
  3. I am sad to hear that the Penske buyout of Saturn has failed. GM will stop making Saturns & close down the dealer network. I toured the Spring Hill plant in '97 -- what a pleasure -- a clean, modern plant with friendly, upbeat workers assembling Saturns. We bought a '98 SL1 a few mos. later. It's a very reliable car, in fact, it needs to get sick so I can replace it with a used 3-series. But, it is too economical to get rid of it now. GM could have made a success of Saturn, but they started too late and the long-term commitment of corporate wasn't there.
  4. Martin: I've got to drive one of those NK's. I am curious what they're like. Is it roadworthy yet, or does it need 100 things done first? Good luck w/it!
  5. Yes, Joel, we got caught in the traffic jam on the right-hand side. Oh well. You did make a tricky maneuver there, pal!! ha ha.
  6. I will have to steel my courage to face the Chicago traffic and associated jam-ups. But, yeah, let's go up there together my friend.
  7. Thanks to all who put on the Windy City event. I need a new strategy for fighting my way into Chicago -- since we were so late. Nice to meet you Dave. Thanks for the pix, Tom! Next year I need to catch that BBQ, I didn't know about it. Very good to see all of you there.
  8. Great to meet you Joel & also Martin. That was quite a coincedence to see you (Joel) on the crowded freeway heading east into Indiana. We briefly had two '02's going 80+ MPH together before the inevitable traffic jam. I wish I had not gotten there so late, but what a warm welcome when I did pull into ZF. After the Windy City Fest, a number of us went over to The Werk Shop to drop off Ben's '71 Nevada 1600-2 for svc. We got the grand tour of the svc side and the resto. side of their operations. What a place!!! Saw my very first (partially restored) 503 there. There was an NK Tisa racer, a 3.0 CSL, various '02's, countless parts, wheels, engines throughout the place. Oh, they also had a RUSTY Bavaria touring outside. The factory never built such a car, but some English guy built some on his own. They were taking two such tourings to build one very nice restored one. That will be interesting to say the least. Chicagoland traffic? --- craziness. I won't complain about our relatively minor traffic disasters in Ohio anymore. Maybe I should fly in or take the bus to the next Windy City??
  9. I'm going to come up there & test drive your 318is. (watch out) I am intrigued by them, but I still need to try one out.
  10. Despite many other events, distractions -- I really wanted to get up there for Windy City, so I WILL be there! See ya soon: Ben & Larry.
  11. That looks like a nice pkg. Much cooler than our DD Taurus wagon. My wife gets the blame for me not scooping it up. (It has 160k mi. and won't quit)
  12. One day, over a year ago, Alec spotted it going into the Greene shopping complex on the Kettering/Greene County border. Pretty sure it was the one -- younger guy in a pale yellow roundie. Too much traffic for me to chase him into the complex & chat w/him. I was gonna track him down if there weren't so many other vehicles in the way.... Alec may start college at OU next fall -- so be on the lookout.
  13. Thanks, BLUNT! Nice of you to say that. We were thrilled to have the '02 crew stay here overnight. The welcome mat is still out for '02 owners passing through the Dayton area.
  14. Thanks to Scott, Patti, THE02GROUP, Mr. Self & anyone I have left out. I must say that the Sobotta Manor B&B was a lovely place to stay. Robin & her husband were wonderful to us. We had no complaints, just praise for her efforts on our behalf. Three other '02 owners (incl. myself) thoroughly enjoyed themselves while at the B&B. I second Mike Self's recommendation of this Mt. Airy B&B!!
  15. No pix, but I had turbines orig. then I had some old steelies blasted & I repainted them & put on some new Yokohamas. I like the orig. steelie look. The turbines just look wrong. The look fine on the E21 somehow.
  16. Mine has been BIMMR 75 from the start. Still folks might ask: "what year is it??" Oh well.
  17. Looks like a steal at $1500. She will attract the more interesting, more discerning young men with her cool ride. I teased Veronica (my 14 y.o.) that her 1st car would be an '02. She said that'd be OK w/her. Tell her to show up at any and all '02 gtg's!
  18. Thanks for posting that news clip. I will check all my tires now. My '02 came with KumHo tires of ?? age. I got rid of them after using them for about 5 more years. Probably not so safe, though they looked OK. My new tires (Yokohama Avid T4) were presumably new when shipped to me. They need to be checked as well.
  19. Mac: Looking forward to meeting you and many others. I have not been to Chicago in many years. Used to come up to visit my brother when he lived in Lake Zurich. Don't cancel anything, I want to check out this event.
  20. Hi Dave! Love that color! Welcome to the offbeat world of Midwest '02 ownership. Give me your email address & I will keep you posted on any events we have in the OH/IN/MI/KY region. Good luck w/your new 'precious.'
  21. You're welcome, John! I did not see this post earlier. It was very good to meet you. The light was lousy on the parking lot -- not the best for showing off our '02's, but fun regardless. The photos of your Taiga '02 are impressive. Bring it to one of our GTG's, so we can look at it 'in person'. Best wishes to our new friend!
  22. Tim, was this Chad Smith's car? I was wondering what happened to his former '02.
  23. Somebody left their toys out in the rain. Didn't his mama tell him to put his toys away??
  24. Dieter has hurt feelings. I will take him out for a drive today. Used the DD yesterday due to heavy rains. BLUNT is A-OK, well known fact.
  25. An E30 325is, & then a Euro E21 323, & a Bavaria, a SAHARA tii, an 1800TISA, an E28 535is, and a M-B 190SL, just because I always liked them a lot. Maybe a Karmann Ghia hotted-up w/loads of Porsche parts for dessert. (do I get to have a luxury pole-barn/clubhouse as well?)
