  1. So, your telling me that my mom & dad were wrong to sell their 1964 Mercury Park Lane back in '69?? They thought it was old & worn-down. However, it was unique. I've never seen another maroon '64 Park Lane with a light brown interior anywhere. Loved the backward slanting power rear window.
  2. Wilkommen! Good Luck, too. What color is it? I will have my niece, Christine, looking for your '02. She's waaay out there in Seattle as well.
  3. I thought of that later ---- wait-a-minute, Laura's the immature one who started it all! I need to tell Mary this story.
  4. In the Dayton area, I sometimes see Mike Self's Sahara '73 & a '76 Atlantik beater which resides nearby. Maybe I see one on the road every 2-3 mos. They are around, but I sure don't see them out and about much. Rarely get a reaction beyond a glance that says: "hmmm. what's that thing?"
  5. ha ha ha!! I did not realize you were so immature. (like me) Must have made for an interesting little gtg! I don't have a story quite like that one...
  6. Nice photos, William. I couldn't help but wish you two were part of the Calif. contingent at V @ V '09. Looks like Tip Top is still living up to his or her name.
  7. Hah! Alec & I missed the rain. Must have been quite the fuss getting all the councours autos back into their trailers and all. Jason, your idea is a good one.... run with it. Sounds like fun!
  8. I wanted to be there, but a grad. party and our Chinese language group gtg kept me up in Kettering. I made it to Ault Park the next day, so I was quite happy. Maybe we could have a Goetta Fest gtg the first weekend of Aug. on the Newport levee?? '02's and Goetta --- whataya say?
  9. Fond memories is right. At the Ault Park Concours yesterday, I was admiring a black '62 Cadillac convertible. Turns out the owner had owned a number of '02's & an E21. He greatly admired Bill Williams' Touring on display nearby. You start off talking about Caddy's & then you're talking about '02's suddenly.
  10. It's not exactly Sam's flame-throwing Manila 1600-2, but it could be brought up to those standards w/enough $$$. Chico Joe, can you drive another one cross-country? After a few hundred repairs, that is.
  11. Great to see you too, Paul. We will eventually have an event which does not conflict w/Mother's Day and your daughter's birthday. Not to worry. Congrats, Bill on your win at Ault Park Concours. Alec & I left 15 min. before the rain started. Thanks for introducing me to Lance also.
  12. I was going to say that's amazing, but not true. It is amazing when anyone at all is paying attention to their driving. Who to blame?? (1) Women (mainly) driving GIANT vehicles, laughing and paying no attention as they babble on their precious phones!! (2) Over-aggressive males with something to prove: gotta beat you to the next light by 1-2 seconds. (3) Dunderheads who cannot see beyond the hood ornament what is coming up down the road. (4) Folks who use the brake pedal at least as much as their gas pedal (5) Just plain STUUUUUUPID people!! ARRRRGGGHHH (feel free to add more..... )
  13. Geeez, Doug. Glad you're alive, number one. I haven't broken a clavicle, but have seen repaired ones a lot. People seem to heal up quite well, but sometimes they have a lumpy clavicle from extra deposits at the site of the fracture. Did anyone get the license number of the %$#@ bugger who hit you?? Good luck getting yourself repaired and feeling good again!!
  14. Mike Self was raised in Ft. Lauderdale. He could give you plenty of background & history. I used to go there each April as a teen to swim in the YMCA Nationals Swim Meet. (Hall of Fame Pool) Yeeehaa. -- this was back when I was driving a bitchin' '72 Golf 2002 when Dad wasn't driving it himself!
  15. Thanks, Larry. I did not see your post 'til now. Looking forward to it already. Let's do the backroads as much as poss. to get there. Might bring Alec w/me. He's gotten very good at working the crowd at such gtg's! Eager to see the rest of you (BLUNT, Chris, Vince, etc.) as well.
  16. Rob: I will be heading to the Windy City Gtg, joining up w/Larry and Ben of Indpls. This fall, Jason Gipson is hosting an event in the Cincinnati area. Yes, you did miss a good one at SFSP on May 9th. How about a trip to see the Auburn-Cord-Duesenburg museum in Auburn, IN? Isn't there a Studebaker museum in Indiana as well??Since anyone is welcome to throw an event, I am eager to hear more from everyone in the MW.
  17. Very good, thanks, Ben. As of now, I plan to go to Windy City.
  18. How early would you guys head out? Would I need to do an overnite in Indy? (then I'd want to bum a couch or something...)
  19. I have wanted to go to Windy City; maybe I'll get there this time.
  20. You're welcome to drop by again, Kris. Yours is the only Schwarz roundie I've ever seen and it's very appealing. Super nice resto.
  21. There's a delightful chap named Al Canuck who sells carpet sets.................................................................OH NO MR. BILL!!!
  22. "It's not my fault! Everyone in my family is big-boned!"
  23. At Vintage, Tim Murray drove Dieter & I drove his turbo for a bit. (great fun) Mine is worth 1/10 of his, but he liked how the shifter clicks into place very smartly and the smooth new clutch. The little things (or not so little) can make a big diff. in the driving experience. For me, it was a joy to have new Yoko's mounted after the tired hockey pucks that came with it.
  24. I am in the Friends of BMW guide in the Dayton area. If you need a place to stay in Dayton, give a call. You're probably long gone by now, though. Evans BMW has hosted our local BMWCCA group very graciously. Good folks.
  25. Joseph: you're welcome! Invade the Denker-McCarty home again sometime! (that goes for Mike ('02monster), Kris, & Steve too) I will be tempted to drive mine to the west coast one day. (engine work will be necess. before I attempt that!!) See you next time a car needs to be ferried over to this 1/2 of the USA.
