  1. Congrats to you and Wolfgang! 40 years of ownership = very small club of devoted '02'er's Watch out for Chryslers & other nimrods on the road!
  2. Welcome! (& have fun; that's what this site is for!) Do you have an '02? Are you shopping for one? Have you gone to any '02 events or any of the BMWCCA events? Tell us more about yourself, please.
  3. My 1st house was in Northside, along Hamilton Ave. We must have been neighbors w/out knowing of our shared interest in '02's. We lived there in '92-'93, then headed to Dayton when Mary got hired by the Dayton Daily News.
  4. Darn, I just learned this eve. at our local BMWCCA meeting that the touring is definitely owned by John Watts of Cincinnati. I also learned that it was orig. Inka before a repaint. Mike Self and George Thielen were up on the facts, but I have never met JW as far as I can tell.
  5. I've never seen this one. Very nice, I would have remembered it if I did spot it. Wonder if Mike Self has seen it somewhere? He judges at some car shows. Judging by the photos, it is the concours held in Ault Park each June. (in the Cincinnati area) My son and I go every year.
  6. I have not had mine out since late October. You've got me beat. If we have some freakishly warm weather and rain, I will get out on the roads (no salt!) once again. Good to hear that one MW '02 is up and running.
  7. I don't think you noticed a problem with the HEAT in Death Valley, either!!
  8. In October, I drove 400 miles to join the NC/VA '02 contingent for 02BERFEST. It was well worth it to be there for the drive, cookout, brunch, etc. Plus, I found 'Dieter' in No. Alabama in '04 while on a trip, then had it shipped to Ohio. Fifty miles ain't nuttin'.
  9. All hail the tech wizard. Seriously, I am envious -- that would be cool. Enjoy the hoopla!
  10. It is 10 degrees here now and projected to go down to 6 degrees tonight. My '02 has been parked since late October. My Saturn is a great winter car with its plastic rocker panels, doors, etc. It also has Blizzaks on all 4 corners, so I enjoyed driving it in the snow earlier today.
  11. That is a super-nice unmolested Sahara. Please don't make it Inka like everybody else. Sahara is a bit like Rodney Dangerfield, but you learn to love it. Many cheap resprays have Sahara underneath -- it doesn't improve the value of the car. I say focus on mods that affect handling: Bilsteins, lowered springs, better tires, replace tired balljoints & tierod ends, etc. Also, a 5-speed is a very good upgrade. Good luck!
  12. Good on both counts. Mike and I will have a caravan departing from Beavercreek (suburb to the SE of Dayton) along Route 35 May 22nd in the am. Details will eventually follow.
  13. Vince didn't show us his nuts. Maybe that's in the extended version. Then we can decide if his nuts are sufficiently lovable.
  14. It has a console w/a Behr a/c unit and steel wheels w/trim rings from a squarie. It is quite inconsistent which raises red flags
  15. Great! You're welcome to join up w/us. I have decided to go to Vintage, but not to attempt Mid-America '02 gtg in Ark. Mark your calendar for the May 9th weekend as well ---- Salt Fork Park MW '02 GTG.
  16. I saw that '02 in October when I was in NC for 02BERFEST. The fellow who restored it brought it along for the drive and showed it off for us, hoping to sell it. He usually restores P-cars instead, but he took this one on as a project. I did not learn the car's history, but it sure looked mighty fine to all of us. What does Mike Pugh think? -- & you, Sam Adams?
  17. Hey Sam, looking forward to seeing you as well. No, the wire is not in place yet. Weather here is lousy and my garage is too tiny. Next time the car is up on a lift, it'll get wired up fer sure.
  18. (1) Vintage at the Vineyards (2) MW '02 Group: B'day party for Wolfgang (40) & Dieter (34) on 5-9-09 (3) 02BERFEST along the Blue Ridge Parkway (4) Maybe Pittsburgh in July, we'll have to see..... (5) (I hope to get to Eureka Springs next year! (6) Thanks for the reminder, Bill, Ault Park Concours ROCKS! I will be there! You're welcome to come to my place when you're in town.
  19. My first $600 went toward new windshield & rear window seals and new brakes all around. Keep the interior dry and make sure you can stop: 2 important things to focus on.
  20. That's amazing number of '02's. My first experience was in a '72 Golf '02. You can work on mine any time you like.....
  21. I have my mother trained to get me gift certificates from Foreign Car Service instead of sox, sweaters, and brightly colored shirts which I'd never wear once. I have given my dad specific '02 items to buy for me and exactly where to buy them, but he prefers writing a check so I can go get it myself. The best gift is my wife understanding my "NEED" to go to certain events and my "NEED" to have this '02 addiction.
  22. Merry Christmas and enjoy having your home back again. I second Mike's thoughts: hope to see you at Vintage or here for one of our gtg's in the Midwest.
  23. I think your own detective work is the only way you will get much info. on how many p.o.'s and who they were, etc. I have an incomplete set of receipts which came with mine. They indicate 4 p.o.'s, all residing in Alabama which is where I found it in 2003. I sent a letter to the earliest p.o. who is now in his eighties, but received no reply. The old home address still matched up w/his name on a database search I did.
