  1. Matthew & Scott: how much were the Avid T4's? How long will they be running the close-out? My Kumho tires are lousy. I definitely wish to replace them soon anyway.
  2. I did not spell it out, but my replacement windshield was made by PPG. DUH on my part. Problem free since installed.
  3. Clay, I am not the greatest authority, but in 2003, I had my windshield replaced along with a new rubber seal. It has been very satisfactory for me. The glass place ordered it, assuming that the orig. windshield would break during the replacement of the seal, but it did not break. I forgot to ask what they did with my orig. windshield glass.
  4. Ditto. You need to get in touch w/The 02 Group. Nice bunch of people, very active gruppe. Enjoy.
  5. The everyday grocery-getters are compromises in our case. (I am sure I have been pitied or worse when driving our 10-yr.-old Saturn SL-1. ) The '02 lets me feel like I am about 17 again, driving dad's '72 Golf '02 on his dime.
  6. Wow. It does look BIG next to an '02. It does not appeal to me as much when it's parked next to a 2002. A 135i is very nice to drive though.
  7. Did you see the Sahara roundie in the convoluted Dylan film: "I'm Not There?" It was just after a court room scene w/Heath Ledger portraying some aspect of the multi-faceted/enigmatic famous guy...
  8. Here's an idea: Have MT (& Maximillian) come to a large vintage BMW event (such as Vintage at the Vineyard in NC or Mid America Fest in Eureka Springs, AR) and run a seminar. They could put forth their positions and then a very lively discussion with '02 owners could follow. Especially helpful would be the opinions of experts who have taken apart and restored a number of 2002's. (you know who you are!) Any interest in a 'real-time' exchange of ideas with the ones who know??
  9. I followed Mike's advice & got a 26R at WalMart. Fits great and has more CCA than the one the po had in there. Price was good too.
  10. Darn, it wouldn't come to me yesterday!! We have been to the Skyborn many times, DUH on my part! The planes did not bother us actually.
  11. Clay, that must make the Dayton area weird -- we have 4 Drive-Ins left. Cincinnati had over a dozen back during their hay-day, but none are left there. We have the Dixie, the Starlite, the Melody 49, and darn, I can't remember the name of the 4th one right now. We go every summer. Last summer we introduced a friend from China to the concept of Drive-Ins which he'd heard of but never seen before. Fun for him to see Ratatouile that way!
  12. Yeah, we did notice a lot of wind damage along stretches of the river with sheared off trees for several miles. When was the storm that did all the damage? Too bad. We did not see the warthogs, but we did hear tanks at Camp Grayling and heard many artillery rounds fired off. Saw lots of military personnel in the Grayling area. The Au Sable is a beautiful river. The scouts had a very good time up there.
  13. I was just up there (Grayling nearby to the east) w/ BSA troop 193, canoeing along the Au Sable River. Traverse City looks to be maybe 30 miles from Grayling. I did not see any interesting cars in Mich. Oh well.
  14. Congrats as well to you! Your cars have got me going to the shrink each week due to an inferiority complex. Maybe I should put the $$ into my '02 instead??!! :}
  15. I should'a, could'a, would'a been there, but for the pesky BSA. I was camping and canoeing w/them up in N. Michigan. Started out at Grayling and canoed eastward for 75 mi. on the Au Sable River. Cool Stuff!!
  16. You are most welcome, sir!! I thought it was fun to do that. I just got back from canoeing on the Au Sable River in N. Michigan with Troop 193 of the BSA! It was a great week w/the boys and I donated a lot of blood to the mosquitoes up there, so they should be extra healthy now! You gotta drop by us MW '02'er's next time yer up here. Use the Mahle wisely, Luke. It's not the 'FORCE' but it's pretty cool, nonetheless.
  17. Stay away from mon femme, si'l vous plait, you very sexy Frenchie!! Seriously, congratulations on your new '02! --- C'est une magnifique et classique voiture, eh??
  18. Have fun out there, Scott! Mary & I are planning a trip to Carmel in Sept. to visit her aunt & uncle. We expect to check out Monterey, Pebble Beach, vineyards, & all kinds of stuff. I want to drive the coastal highway with the top down also.
  19. Are you having the orig. engine rebuilt, Metric Mechanic engine, or something else? I hear lots of good things about T. Sayther. You should have a very fine '02 before long. Sahara rocks! One day I will finally get to Austin as we have friends living there.
  20. Are you a dude or more of a reformed hippie-type, BLUNT?? Inquiring minds would like to know...
  21. Sorry, I'll be camping with the McCarty side of the family down in Red River Gorge. Hope you manage a decent MW '02 gtg while in the area.
  22. William (& Jessie): Very good to meet you. Sorry I had to dash off to work so fast. You are welcome to drop in on us too. Mary & I live all of 15 min. away from Mike & Carol. I got a quick look at your tii -- very nice! Good luck w/the rest of your journey.
  23. Today at Foreign Car Parts & Svc. (Huber Hts.) I saw a jade green (or amazon green) '76 parked out back. The Ohio plate reads: COOL 02. Hadn't seen your '02 before today. Come out & say hi!
  24. Cheers for you and the '71 Colorado! Hoping to see you, Ginger and the '02 soon. Good luck shaking off the cobwebs.
